Description

Another colourful historical cavalry model, this time done as a special comission.

Cuera Dragoons vere deployed for over a century since 1700s to protect Nueva España borders (across the whole North America) from the attacks of Native Americans and foreign colonists. Their anachronistic look owes to their three trademark pieces of equipment: the spear (fallen from grace until Napoleon brought it back to the battlefields), the adarga (a typical spanish shield taken form the Moors) and the cuera. The cuera was a coat made from several tightly sewn layers well cured of well cured leather, which made it arrow-proof. This made them very effective troops against the natives.

This unsung, usually overlooked cavalrymen dominated a huge territory of what's USA nowadays, and were the predecessors of the all-known cowboys.
